Winter 2019: Winter meals

I never really learned to cook. I did learn to be self-sufficient in the kitchen. I did learn recipes and foods that worked for me, and those that did not. Winter is an especially important time for comfort food. One of my stand-by lunches is a summer reminder, an al fresco meal of ciabatta, salami, tomato and olive oil. My more recent finding has been a chili mix that allows me to complete it with additional fixings, from ground beef to corn. It is a small joy to be able to assemble a meal. It is a great comfort to eat a meal that warms those cold winter days.
