Welcome to the joy of CPAP

This is a true sign of old age, where my health is effected by a machine.

After being in denial for years, I finally succumbed, through a series of decisions, to at least try the CPAP, based on the clinic and home sleep studies, Dena's concerns, and medical recommendations. I was extremely reluctant to take this route and as I sat the the pulomonary therapist's office Friday, my skepticism and cynicism surfaced. But she was patient and understanding and even though the home set up -- with the app, the distilled water, the Bluetooth, the fittings -- was frustrating, I made it to bed time last night ready to at least try.
At least it seems to be working.

My near-perfect score (92) on the first night would have been perfect had I slept more hours. They require a minimum of six and I guess the model wants more, as my six plus hours earned me 62 of 70 possible points. Then again, it was only the first night, and it seems that it could be months before this score turns into better overall health. Maybe the score is inflated just to encourage me, as I seem to recall reports that users often abandon the device.
Tonight is the second test. Let's see how that goes. The other good news in the score made me confident that I can stick with the simpler "nose" mask rather than the full facial mask, which makes sleep positions less restrictive and me more comfortable. More later.
