Retirement -- the process, not the event -- continues. Construction on our new home started Monday and we hope to move there by late September. We are already property owners in Wisconsin, as we were asked to purchase the lot before construction began (the builder takes monthly 'draws' on the contracted price until the conclusion of the project).
Walking more consistently since the school year ended. What used to be a two-mile, five times a week goal has become more of a three- to four-mile walk up to six times a week.
Gaby is wrapping up midterms at UCLA in her run up to her last final on June 10, after which she will join us in Appleton for another home design meeting, followed by her internship on June 17. Jane ends her one-year assignment on 31 July.
Still trying to separate my brain from teaching and research after fifty years of higher education. No need to submit that research paper to that journal or conference, or to start outlining my syllabus and lessons for the coming term, as has been my practice for decades. I just need one significant accomplishment each day, that and a good walk, to feel like I am making progress, at least for the next four months. When we settle in Harrison (our village in the city of Appleton), I will look for more substantial endeavors.
