Reflections on my Covid experience

November 2022. Halloween 2022 trick or treating -- this past Monday night -- ended with a visit from six young women from my eighth grade religion class. Having felt slightly under the weather since Friday evening, I decided it best to at least check the possibility of having Covid before I showed up the following morning for playground duty.

I took the test and it was positive. Then I helped Dena test, and she tested positive as well. Immediately, the "what to do next" question became paramount. First, I started to inform potentially impacted parties, including the neighborhood trick or treaters (via Facebook), Katie Renz (mother of one of this eight grade visitors), and the playground register manager.

Next we had to assess changes in our lifestyle for the coming isolation period. It started with googling related topics about lifestyle for two Covid patients inhabiting the same home. Most of the advice failed to address this specific problem, yet I was able to discern enough to establish an adaptive lifestyle. Moved into the back bedroom. Moved my essentials to that bathroom. Confirmed the use of my CPAP and the viability of walking outside, if only for shorter mileage than normal for me.

The weather these past three days has been incredible, even seventy degrees. Other than feeling that this experience is what I thought we'd be doing for two weeks in March 2022, it has not been difficult, not have the symptoms been severe. Renee Mcguire, Kris Sprangers and Jane and Abe have placed food on our porch. I am in no hurry.
