Major May movements

This is a busy, momentous month for us.

Jane leaves Cristo Rey, leaves next for Juneau. Gaby surfs Costa Rica, heads for New York to find an apartment. Dena gets new account, loses two colleagues. A very dynamic month.
These changes are exciting and also somewhat terrifying. Not the world I imagined even five years ago, and certainly bot thirty or fifty years ago. My three women are launching or moving into significant career moves, while I very briefly consider -- then reject -- the idea of returning to an interim dean position at Loyola or a Fulbright award for Ireland or Austria. Bottom line for me remains that I have no interest in maintaining my academic life, not after fifty years, not in the sewer of critical race theory, Biden senility, and Covid lockdowns.
Of more immediate, practical concern to me now are taxes and Medicare. Hard to get a good grasp of either one. Confounding this is the recent stock market dive earlier this week, the result of Biden's inflationary spending, unemployment incentives, ransomware attacks, border insecurity, ongoing mask mandates, and the general demise of rational behavior by the Left in this country. There at least seems to be some signs of hope of responding to the Left, coming from France, a bit more from Great Britain, and an increasing response from even some of the cultural, media and political elite.
Last night with Abe and Jane led my mind back to the real management concerns of today, and they are not as much in high tech as one might think. Instead, our major monsters or elephants in the room continue to be 'healthcare,' (higher) education, and retirement. With medical costs, closed schools, and 55 million 'senior' citizens, the core foundation of our society is eroding or, better yet, being destroyed by 'progressive' policies and practices, political correctness on steroids, wokeism.
There is greta joy in being quite removed from most of the coastal politics and crime. Good reason to resist Harrison.
