February 16, 2020. After a referral from a Lawrence realtor, Betty Blitzer, a local Lawrence builder -- Mike (can't recall last name) offered me this home he was building on a lot where he had once lived as a student. Construction was during spring and summer 1984. I had originally chosen a scarlet/red trim, but Mike convinced me to let him tone it down -- for free -- once we saw the original finish.

I lived here after my return from a summer in Manchester in August, and sold it after I moved to North Carolina in the fall of 1986, and then on to Milwaukee in January 1987.
I went to Manchester again in summer 1985 and on a weekend trip to Amsterdam I ordered tulip bulbs I planted in front. Peter Bilski, a local student artist, made the stained glass window for the front door, colors that are hard to see and appreciate in the daylight.
In the spirit of appreciation for the many places I have lived, this past week end, I recounted for Dena the number of apartments I lived in and the number of homes I have purchased since I moved off campus at Binghamton in summer 1974, a summer I also went abroad, only this time it was to work at Foseco in Birmingham, England.
So here goes. Apartments: 32 Schiller Street (1974-75) in Binghamton, 606 South Allen Street (1975-76), and 210 Fairmount Avenue (1976-77), and 118 East College, all in State College. Next apartment was in Laramie, 1982-83, on East Custer. After three years back in Lawrence and a short stay on New York Street, I moved to Chapel Hill where I lived in an apartment in Fall 1986, with law student Debby Brewer, daughter of a math prof friend from Lawrence, Jim Brewer.
After marriage, Dena and I lived on South Kools Court (1990-1992). We had an apartment for about three months in Buckhead in mid-1994, before Dena moved back to Conway and Acxiom. We lived on West Tyler Street (1994-95) before moving to Baltimore in June 1995. There we lived in campus housing for a month before moving to Versailles Apartments (July 1995-March 1996), only to return to Versailles (June 2018-September 2019).
Adds up to at least seven for me and five more with Dena, not counting the homes I/we owned, starting with 2500 Montana (Lawrence, KS), then 1812 Alabama (see photo), Diamond Towers (Milwaukee, 1987-1990), then 2800 Anna Lane (Conway, AR), followed by 601 Oak Farm Court (1996-2018) and now Touchdown Drive (October 2019 ff.).
Not counting five six-to-eight-week stays in England (1973 and 1974 with Foseco, 1984 and 1985 with Kansas, and 1987 with Marquette in Oxford), that's twelve apartment stays and six houses.
