N9378 Touchdown Drive. Today's hole in the ground, tomorrow, home.

Monday was the very big first day of construction on our new home. It has been about six weeks since we first visited homes and sites and we are now fully engaged in the construction of the new home and the selection of every possible feature, from stone, siding and exterior paint, to a kitchen full of top-flight appliances, a laundry room that will almost make doing laundry fun and easy, sinks and showers, faucets and finishes, doors and windows, and more detail that we ever thought possible.

Our hope is to be in our new home by the start of fall, settled in, furnished and enjoying a crisp fall. Then to connect with our neighbors and the entire social system that will be our new life.

Over the next four months we will be managing our exit from Maryland. I turned in my office keys last week. I gave copies of my leadership book to my colleagues as a parting gift. Retirement has been a process, not a single event, and the process continues.
