To the best of my memory, this picture was taken at Toftrees, a semi-resort near Penn State, taken after my last lunch in State College before I drove off for Kansas.

This was my brand new 1978 Honda Accord, in its earlier hatchback version. I think it cost about $7000. Odd thing was that I sold it a year later, back in State College, where I traded it in for a Mazda RX-7 with its rotary engine. I spent part of the summer of 1979 back in State College, starting work on what would eventually become my book, The New Leadership Paradigm. Forty years later I still earn a few dollars a year in royalties for the book, co-authored with Hank Sims. Serious work went on hold until I moved to Marquette, after years on the back burner. We finished the manuscript about 1990. It did not come out until 1992. More on NLP later.
I was wearing some almost original Nike waffle trainers that cost less than $20. I was a serious runner by this time, having taken up running when the raquetball courts and opponents became too hard to schedule. I'd run a marathon in 1981. Today, I find my joy in a good walk.
