June 1, 2020. The large photo to the right is from Google maps. The mow pattern shows a commercial cut, meaning I was not mowing the lawn, which suggests this was in September 2012, when I was recovering from hip surgery. It might also have been during a summer absence from town, later than 2012, when we outsourced the mowing while we were away. The four smaller photos are from my last time mowing the lawn, in June 2018, after a storm, and showing the patterned style of mowing that I learned from my days on the golf course crew, summer of 1969.
We have a new, sodded lawn at Touchdown. It is a good start, an excellent upgrade from the mud, and an investment in a lawn more likely to 'take' than a seeded lawn on this clay. I have no knowledge of the nuances of lawn development in Wisconsin. I do know that my daily walks reveal so many perfect, lush, green lawns that there is an art form here that I will need to master, to up my game. And that will also likely mean I will need some time, probably two more years, to better develop the nascent lawn. For now, it is so long mud, hello mow, and good memories of 601 Oak Farm Court.
