Democracy dies in disingenuous Covid policies

January 25, 2021. Another fine critique of the American print media capacity to create fear while assuming a position of intellectual and moral authority.

Start with a headline from almost a year ago, when the experts spoke without true knowledge of what was happening -- or about to happen -- and then used that false impression to criticize Donald Trump for banning travel from China. Below that is a chart showing that 80% of deaths FROM Covid were among people WITH an age over 65 and 95% were from those aged 50 or older. Covid has not been an equal death opportunity, not by any means.

The third figure illustrates both the power and the intransigence of public sector teacher unions in prohibiting in-class learning for almost two years, creating an enduring educational deficit, especially among those under the age of ten, the same group least likely to die of Covid.
